TEAM X Status Report #4

Image
Day 4: Today was the final day of all the hard work in the Team X project. My level of confidence that I had for our egg to survive was high, I actually thought the we could've survived the first round. But I can't tell the future, so once we got to the final drop as we got ready and heard the signal we let it go but sadly it didn't survive. The egg got a small crack once it hit the ground. This happened because the capsule fell side ways onto the egg, not only that but we didn't have any shock absorbers to minimize the shock when it hit the ground. Also the parachute didn't work in that first round as much because the height was so short air resistance wasn't that useful. But overall it was a fun and informative project (Team X 2016) Egg drop   ( Video ) Group Photo

TEAM X Status Report #3

Day 3: The part the I have found the most challenging in our team X project is, finding what we are testing for when we are doing our test egg drop, and seeing how well our capsule works without the real egg inside. Some of my predictions for Tuesday the final day of the drop are that the egg with survive the first 2 final drop trials, but its might not have a likely chance of surviving the last one. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1v6eijmRmyTlSpR2bXQx34N1z0FU0zNdA5A

TEAM X Status Report - Day 2

Meaning of Air resistance: Slows objects down when falling, because air is pushing against an object to slow it down. Air resistance plays a big role in our project because it's what's slows down the landing of our egg capsule so it doesn't have a big hard impact  once it hits the ground. Day 2; Today we tested our egg capsule for the first time!! Some things that went well while testing was that our egg stayed in place in the small nest that we made out of pipe cleaners, this is used to support the egg and cushion it so once the capsule hits the ground the egg will have a smaller chance of breaking. Next class we are planning on adding more padding to the egg so it is more cushioned when the energy is being transferred from Potential energy to Kinetic energy. For this change of energy we have also added a parachute to slow down the landing so it doesn't have a big impact once the kinetic energy is at 100%.  One thing that hasn't gone very well in our proje...

Team X Status Report- Day 1

Target : Try to land the egg inside its box safe from high above ground, while aiming for the target “ X marks the spot”.   Today Maren, Sami and I finished sketching our final draft of our team X project. We also finished doing the list of materials we will need to build our team X Project, and we started to buy some of them to start our model. Our ideas are to use a parachute to slow down the landing using a garbage bag and string, but this idea is still to be decided by our team. To support the egg we want to use a couple of pipe cleaners that rap around the egg inside the box, and to protect the eggs we will use paper and stuff it inside the box. Our biggest challenge is going to be the amount of tape we use, and the materials if they are strong enough or if they will work well with our plan, and lastly the budget that we have using the least amount of money but still having a successful project. Goals for next class are to finish gathering all our materials and ...

Janet Fish Vlog Post

Image
Janet fish was the author we were following for this project. She was born in Boston Massachusetts on May 18, 1938. She was born in a family of artist. Once she grew up she went to Yale University. She has won may awards like the ( Aspen Art Museum Woman in Arts Award, 1993) ( American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, 1994,) ( Smith College Medal, 2012). What I learned about color pencils, light, reflection. Something that I learned about color pencils is that you have or hold the pencil like an artist not like a writer. Something that I learned about light is that once it hits the water then it makes objects seemed as they are moved in position. Something that I learned about reflection is how in a cup the reflection is only the bottom half of a cup. Something that I wan to share about my experience in art is that I enjoyed doing the empty bowls and learning lots about different authors and their technic.

Physical Activity Vlog🏄🏽⛹🏽

On Wendsday I had track practice from 3:45-5:10. In track we practice the 4x100 meter relay for a meet next week. We finished with some stretches so our mussels woulden't de sore. Nada, me and Manal.🤗

Physical Activity Vlog 🏂🚴🏽

On Monday I had football practice from 3:35-5:10p.m. We started of with some passing drills to warm up, then we did some stretches and played small games.

When I grow up👩🏽

My job once I grow up will be working as a Zooologist and working in  economy. My job will help other and animals because I will try to make a change in finding new ways for humans to interact better and understand animals more. Not only that but I will also work in economy by helping companies creat big building using renewable energy that dose not pollute. Since in the future new technology will be used traveling is going to be much faster and efficient. We will find more electric power cars and plains, and even a special spaceship that will be launched out to lowover altitude .  Houses will be modern, bigger and be powered with cleaner energy like solar panels and wind.

Blind Contour Selfie

Image
To do this project I used  a pen on a A3 piece of paper. First I looked at myself in a mirror and tried to copy my face without looking at the pievce of paper. What I learned for this experience was that doing a contour drawing is much harder than what it looks like. Firstly I was tempted to look down at the paper, and secondly I couldn't get the perfect shape of my face that I wanted, but with practice I will start to improve on my contour skills.🎨🖌✏️🖍

Physical Activity Vlog🏇🏾🏋🏻

On Wensday I went horse back riding from 5:00- 5:50p.m. I rode Gazel an amazing horse. We started off with some small warm-ups like trotting, extending trot, and some jumps. Then we did some group canters. Horse back riding is a great way to stay physically, and meantally healthy because you need to use your body to "drive" your horse. Not only that but you need to focuse on the commands, the horse, other around you, and when to turn, kick and stop.

On Thursday I went to football practice form 3:45 till 5:10. We did some warm-ups, dinamic stretches, and some small games. Football is a sport that I really enjoy because it helps you stay healthy, and helps you learn how to work with others. Photo of me and some friends, and Mr.Newman :) after football practice

Physical Activity Vlog🚵🏾⛹🏽

On Tuesday I went to Track and Field, one of my favorite sports. Track and field is form 3:45-5:10p.m. We started out with some strength workouts and rotations, and then we got started. We ran 400meters then took a rest and repeated the same thing 3-4 times. After we finished we watched some videos about how to be a good sprinter. In the picture below I am with some friends after practice that are also in Track. I really enjoy this sport because it competitive, challenging, and fun.

The One and Only Ivan

Today we listened to one of my favorite books, " The One and Only Ivan". What stands out to me so far is how Ivan ( the gorilla) try's to look at everything from a diffrent prospective. For example once a small child came up to him and stood in foront of his window, tears stated to stream down, he said " he must feel so lonely" Ivan then whished that he could of tolden him that "you can get used to anything." Ivan is also very wise and has the eye of an artist. He likes to take his time and study humans. I really enjoy this book.
