Child Soldiers / Outline

After reading this text I think that assuming that just because these man are in Guantanamo it doesn't mean that we should necessarily call them a danger to us. I think that children that are over 13 should have a more strict punishment since they are more mature and aware of what they are doing. Just like that have done to  Khadr' which   he is now in a  camp where he is housed is reserved for the most "compliant" detainees. 

Outline

Intro: How are child Soilders. ( Give examples of some of the places they are in/ wars) 

Main Idea: Child soldiers should still be kept accountable for there actions but  shouldn't be punished in harshways. 

Idea #1: They are being forced to join or its not their choice

Evidence 

- In some countries, hunger and poverty drive parents to sell their children into service. What's more, children are often considered the perfect weapon: They are easily manipulated, intensely loyal, fearless, and, most important, in endless supply. ( Armed and Under age)

Idea #2: They are just children and don't have anyone to educate them about making decisions.

Children don't usually realize that what their decision that there taking wrong or I'll after them in the future. War isn't something that's on a child's mind. (Child soldiers invisible children the WEBLY)

- You begin to see your father figure sergeant become older brother, all giving you bad examples ( CBS News Video) 

Idea #3  They are treated in very hard and brutal conditions, making them think that what they are doing is correct.

- Drugs make you feel num and make you think that when going to war or what the commander was telling you was to keep you safe.

-If we treat them in harsh ways we will be giving them the same example they have had for the time they were in war.

-drugs and  alcohol make child soldiers become more cooperative enabling them to commit crimes which they never would have done before.( Child soldiers invisible children the WEBLY)

What should be done: After wars end children depending on age they wither need to be punishe or displined

command responsibility does not necessarily remove individual culpability for serious human rights violations by lower ranks or minor (IRINnews))
